This dazzling & symbolic moon necklace was created in 18 carat white gold & features the clients incredible 3.01carat brilliant cut white diamond. It's rare to be given the chance to work with a diamond of such quality & size, so Sophie knew she had to make something absolutely perfect for her to wear every day, as she wanted to keep the diamond (quite literally) close to her heart.
The diamond was originally set into a ring, but the client wanted to re-use it into a necklace, to celebrate a new chapter in her life. As the crescent moon specifically symbolises womanhood & new beginnings, Sophie thought it could be a beautiful physical metaphor which would also ‘embrace' her beautiful diamond, as a protector & guardian spirit going forward in her life.
Although this is clearly a highly valuable piece, the value of jewellery is not only inherent in the materials but is also deeply meaningful and personal to the wearer and can also resonate on so many other levels; emotional, mythological, cultural, historical… One piece of jewellery can tell so many stories and this was important to Sophie in the design process for this necklace.
The beautiful woven 18ct white gold chain has what looks like a clasp detail with granulation to echo the moon, but it cannot actually be undone as the client said she never wanted to take it off. Well who can blame her … it’s an extraordinary necklace created in the main part by planet earth herself. Hanging from the diamond moon are three 'tails' with an additional three brilliant cut diamonds at the bottom, to add extra sparkle with every movement.
