Yes. Sophie Harley was personally commissioned to design and create the original Algerian Loveknot necklace for the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. The necklace worn by Eva Green on screen was made by hand in Sophie's London studio, and that exact same craftsmanship goes into every piece in the collection today.

The original Algerian Loveknot necklace features a knot with a 25mm diameter. Three strands of chain fall elegantly from the knot, sweeping around the neck, with the longest drop chain measuring 85mm.

Most pieces in the collection are crafted from hallmarked sterling silver featuring 18ct gold-plated detailing, giving the jewellery the distinctive, textured two-tone appearance seen in the film. Selected designs are also available in solid 18ct yellow or white gold, and can be customised with diamonds or precious gemstones.

The original necklace comes with a standard chain length of approximately 16½ inches (42cm). If you require a longer fit, an Algerian Loveknot extension chain is available to purchase separately. Bespoke chain lengths can also be requested via our bespoke jewellery service.

Sophie Harley’s silver jewellery has a unique, gently oxidised finish that gives it its character. To maintain it, gently rub the silver areas with a silver polishing cloth, taking care to avoid the gold-plated details as much as possible. If the piece becomes tarnished, use a soft toothbrush with mild, warm soapy water. Do not use silver dip, as it will strip the original oxidised finish.

The gold plating is 3-5 microns thick and whilst this is considerably thicker than a “flash” plate or gilding, the plating will gradually wear over time. In order to prolong the life of the plating, we recommend to avoid sleeping or showering in your jewellery.

Please also avoid spraying perfume directly on to your jewellery and avoid contact with chemicals such as chlorine as this will oxidise and turn the silver black. Please contact us if you require a quote for re-plating or professional cleaning.
